Asphaltene deposition in oil reservoirs is one of the most important problems in production from reservoirs.
Obstruction in the porous environment of the oil formation, well openings and processing facilities are serious problems in the production of asphaltene oils.
This compound has a complex molecular structure that can be referred to as a set of non-hydrocarbon molecules soluble in benzene and insoluble in solvents with low molecular mass as well as normal alkanes.
These factors disrupt the chemical balance in the reservoir, which will result in the formation of sediment. One possible way to prevent asphaltene deposition is to add asphaltene stabilizers as a reagent to the oil.
Asphaltene inhibitors act similarly to resins, making asphaltenes colloidal and keeping them soluble.
